High in the El Quiché mountains of Guatemala, indigenous women have taken the responsibility of farming into their own hands. The Mujeres Ixil project brings together 38 female farmers in the Santa Avelina region. Their work strengthens family livelihoods, supports children’s education, and builds a more equal community.
ROST has been purchasing from the Maya Ixil cooperative for several harvest seasons, and this batch continues the collaboration by highlighting the coffee produced by women farmers. The coffee is hand-picked and washed, and its flavor combines the sweetness of toffee, the freshness of pear, and the juiciness of honeydew melon.
