Karogoto's specialty coffee comes from the central region of Kenya, at the foot of Mount Kenya, and is produced by approximately 1,500 smallholder farmers through the Tekangu community. Each farmer manages an average of 0.5 hectares of land and primarily cultivates SL28 and SL34 varieties, as well as Ruiru 11 and Batian hybrids. The region's volcanic, phosphorus-rich soil, abundant rainfall, and consistent temperatures create ideal conditions for a full-bodied, nuanced coffee. Karogoto also supports local education, aiming to inspire young people to continue farming.

Flavor notes include redcurrant, blackcurrant, and rhubarb.
